World cancer deaths to double by 2030: UN

Cancer could kill more than 13.2 million people a year by 2030, the United Nations' cancer agency says in a new projection.
The International Agency for Research on Cancer projects that by 2030 almost 21.4 million new cases will be diagnosed annually, assuming cancer rates stay the same over the next two decades.
"These figures represent the most accurate assessment of the global cancer burden available at present and can be used in the setting of priorities for cancer control in different regions of the world," said Christopher Wild, director of IARC.
