PERii’s work with Open Access
INASP’s Programme for the Enhancement of Research Information (PERii) takes an holistic approach to supporting research communication and uptake, and works with a diverse network of partners. These include the researchers, policy makers and practitioners who contribute and use scholarly knowledge and information and the librarians, ICT professionals, vice-chancellors, journal editors and publishers who enable research communication to function effectively.
An important aspect of the activities we do together is signposting and increasing awareness and use of the wealth of research resources that the Open Access (OA) movement makes available. The Budapest Open Access Initiative (www.soros.org/openaccess/) states: “By ‘Open Access’ to this literature, we mean its free availability on the public internet, permitting any users to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search,
or link to the full texts of these articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as No. 43, Winter 2010       ISSN 1028-0790  Open Access
