Anticonvulsant Aids Weight Loss

The anticonvulsant drug zonisamide (Zonegran), in combination with dietary and lifestyle changes, can help obese people lose weight, researchers reported.

In a 1-year controlled trial, patients taking 400 mg daily of the drug lost significantly more weight than those on placebo, according to Kishore Gadde, MD, of Duke University Medical Center, and colleagues./.../
