Women's Mental Health

Women's mental health

Dear Prof Achutti,

While differences between men and women in terms of the prevalence and pattern of mental health problems are well-known, the underlying reasons are comparatively under-researched. The Lancet PsychiatrySeries on Women’s mental health explores the specific social and biological factors contributing to mental disorders in women, as well as issues of gender-specific research and management.
This Series focuses on psychosis, depression, and anxiety disorders, describing the current state of knowledge and how future research might reveal more about underlying mechanisms and better treatments. The Series also explores the urgent problem of violence against women, how this affects mental health, and how clinical services might be able to intervene.

Yours sincerely,
Niall Boyce
Editor, The Lancet Psychiatry
