Healthy Lives and Well-being

Twelve global health and development organizations (Gavi, GFF, Global Fund, UNAIDS, UNDP, UNFPA, UNICEF, Unitaid, UN Women, WFP, WHO and the World Bank) are exploring new ways of working together to accelerate progress towards the health-related Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) targets. To guide their collaboration, organizations are developing a Global Action Plan (GAP) to be presented at the UN General Assembly in September 2019.
Affected communities, civil society organizations and other non-state actors play a key role in shaping the Plan. This one-day consultation, which follows the UN General Assembly multi-stakeholder hearing on Universal Health Coverage (UHC), provides an opportunity for face-to-face discussion with a broad range of non-state actors in further developing the Plan. The consultation will focus on the GAP Accelerator 3, on civil society and community engagement and Accelerator 4, on the determinants of health (Accelerators refer to cross-cutting areas where collective action has the potential to accelerate progress towards the health-related SDGs - more information available here).
