Obesity Linked to Economic Insecurity ScienceDaily (Jan. 22, 2011) — An Oxford University study suggests that people living in countries with 'free market' regimes are more likely to become obese due to the stress of being exposed to economic insecurity. The researchers believe that the stress of living in a competitive social system without a strong welfare state could be causing people to overeat. No dia 11 de junho de 2012, o Arquivo Histórico recebeu 28 acadêmicos do Curso de Arquivologia/UFSM, acompanhados da Professora Eneida Izabel Schirmer Richter e seu monitor Rafael Chaves Ferreira, para a realização de aula prática da disciplina de Paleografia com o apoio dos documentos do Fundo Intendência Municipal de Santa Maria. Tais documentos foram digitalizados no ano de 2011 através de um projeto de extensão da UFSM, coordenado pela Professora Fernanda Kielling Pedrazzi.
