1978 - Há 40 anos...

Em 2018 comemoramos quarenta anos da Pesquisa sobre Pressão Arterial na População de 20 a 74 anos de nosso Estado e também da Declaração de Alma Ata sobre Atenção Primária da Saúde.

Encontro com dois AMICOR: a Enfermeira Morgana Thais Carolo Fernandes - professora da UNIRITTER, e com Paulo Piza Teixeira aposentado da OPS/OMS agora de volta à nossa terra. Conversamos sobre os quarenhta anos de Alma-Ata e sobre a Pesquisa realizada aqui no mesmo ano.
Reuni algumas referências mais acessiveis e convido a quem estiver interessado em participar.

• O primeiro teve como ponto de partida o Estado do RS e cobriu nossa população adulta representada por estratos: da Capital, do Cinturão Metropolitano: de várias cidades represetativas do Interior Urbano, e do respectivo entorno Rural. Teria sido a maior amostra populacional abaixo do equador contemplando características relacionadas com a potencial prevenção de doenças crônicas numa época em que na agenda de Saúde Pública somente constavam Doenças Transmissíveis, Saúde Materno-Infantil e Desnutrição.
• A Conferência de Alma-Ata no Kazaquistão também visava uma ampliação do foco de atenção da saúde pública em busca da Saúde para Todos no Ano 2.000. Já passamos 18 anos dessa meta e vale uma parada para reflexão.

Des chercheurs brésiliens développent depuis deux ans et demi un vaccin contre la dépendance à la cocaïne. Le projet est en phase de test sur des animaux, mais aucune date d'expérimentation n'est pour l'instant prévue sur des humains.

«Nous avons développé une molécule qui stimule le système immunologique pour produire des anticorps contre la cocaïne», a déclaré lundi le professeur Angelo de Fatima du département de chimie organique de l'université fédérale du Minas Gerais (UFMG), l'un des deux responsables de la recherche./.../

Key Points

Question  Why is health care spending in the United States so much greater than in other high-income countries?

Findings  In 2016, the United States spent nearly twice as much as 10 high-income countries on medical care and performed less well on many population health outcomes. Contrary to some explanations for high spending, social spending and health care utilization in the United States did not differ substantially from other high-income nations. Prices of labor and goods, including pharmaceuticals and devices, and administrative costs appeared to be the main drivers of the differences in spending.

Meaning  Efforts targeting utilization alone are unlikely to reduce the growth in health care spending in the United States; a more concerted effort to reduce prices and administrative costs is likely needed.

Researching Nondrug Approaches to Pain Management

Robert Kerns, PhD, has spent the better part of 4 decades treating and studying pain in veterans and military service members. Kerns is a clinical psychologist and a professor of psychiatry, neurology, and psychology at Yale University. He opened an interdisciplinary pain management center for veterans at the Yale-affiliated Veterans Affairs (VA) Connecticut Healthcare System in 1980, where he’s still a research psychologist. In 2006, he became the VA’s first national program director for pain management, a position he left in 2016./.../

Emerging from the morning fog shrouding the art galleries and boutiques of Paris’s 7th Arrondissement, the police arrived at the Hôtel de La Salle at 9:00on November 18, 2014. Once home to the author of France’s code of civil law and, after that, sundry dukes and duchesses, the seventeenth-century mansion was now the headquarters of Aristophil, an upstart investment company founded by Gérard Lhéritier, the son and grandson of a plumber. In just over two decades, the then-sixty-six-year-old Lhéritier—the “king of manuscripts,” as he’d been dubbed by the local media—had amassed the largest private collection of historical letters and manuscripts in the country, effectively cornering the market. Among his 130,000-odd holdings were André Breton’s original Surrealist Manifesto, love notes from Napoleon to Josephine, the last testament of Louis XVI, and fragments of the Dead Sea Scrolls./.../

Recasting Human Development measures – Expert Group Meeting The Human Development Report Office (HDRO) convened 12 international experts from academia and research institutes in New York on 12-13 February 2018 for a two-day meeting to discuss human development measurements and the way forward. Led and facilitated by Selim Jahan, Director of HDRO, and Milorad Kovacevic, Chief Statistician at HDRO, the debate aimed to present, discuss and propose how the methodologies of current human development indices can be improved so that indices stay relevant in monitoring progress in human development, with particular aims at strengthening the usefulness of the indices for policy debates within the broader 2030 Agenda for sustainable development.
