8 March 2010 -- The theme of this year's International Women's Day is "Equal rights, equal opportunities: progress for all". This is a significant topic since equal rights and opportunities lead to improved health for women and girls. WHO has long been working towards realizing the right to health and promoting the progressive realization of human rights.
