Membro da Academia Sul-Rio-Grandense de Medicina.* São bem recentes as histórias do medicamento contra artrite (antiinflamatório) que foi recolhido porque fazia mal para o coração, e do outro para baixar o mau colesterol, que também provocou mortes. Aliás, qualquer remédio, como substância não natural, é também um veneno, e em geral trata-se de um mal menor, que precisa ser utilizado com muito cuidado para que os benefícios procurados não sejam inferiores aos efeitos colaterais indesejáveis.
