Divisive political ideologies are bad for health
Following the recent events in New Zealand more people accept the link between
hate speech, Islamophobia and violent acts by extremists. These are obvious
examples of the impact those who preach the ideology of divisiveness can have on
health.
But there are more common health impacts of political or economic practices that
play groups against one another whether they be racial, religious, language, gender,
age, income or any division that produces inequities and winners and losers.
