The paper deals with the memory and history of the Syrian-Lebanese immigration to Rio Grande do Sul State/Brazil, seeking to situate the middle-eastern immigrants into the political, economic and social dynamics of the state, during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The period studied illustrates to the reader the places where these immigrants were placed, that is, in distinct areas of Rio Grande do Sul, for example: settlements and new settlements areas, southern border, central and northern regions, coastal, capital and western border of the state.
