Health leaders from around the world are gathering in Port Moresby this week for the APEC High-Level Meeting on Health and the Economy. The theme is Transforming Primary Health Care through Investment, Innovation, and Collaboration, and never has the need been more pressing.
PHC at the World Health Assembly
Primary health care is front and centre at the seventy-first world health assembly this year. Primary health care and universal health coverage will be the topic of the first technical briefing for Member States. PHC will also be the topic of several official side events. A ministerial pop-up 'Past, present and future primary health care: Alma-Ata at 40' will underline the need to reorient health systems toward primary health care to achieve health for all in the 21st century.
